How I fell in love with Pesci in Ischia, a little island off Naples

I still remember the first time I came across Pesci Che Volano jewellery. It was 2016, and I was visiting the beautiful Castello Aragonese on the island of Ischia. Inside its little curated shop, a small display of artisan jewellery caught my eye. The pieces were scattered over sand, and their raw, organic shapes instantly stopped me in my tracks.

Each design felt alive - as if it carried a story. I bought myself two rings that day, and my husband picked up a pendant that he still wears. That was the beginning of my love story with Pesci Che Volano, and it continues to this day.

Elena’s atelier in Florence and the art of handcrafting

Not long after that trip, I had the chance to visit Elena’s studio in Florence - the artist behind the label. From the moment I stepped inside, I knew it was a special place. Her atelier felt more like a creative sanctuary, filled with sketches, music, tools, and the faint scent of metal in the air.

Elena spoke about her vision of creating a jewellery line that celebrated slowness and beauty beyond trends. The name Pesci Che Volano (Italian for Flying Fish) is her poetic nod to things that exist between worlds - much like her creations.

In a world of sameness, Pesci Che Volano offers something refreshingly human. Each piece is made using the ancient lost-wax casting method, where a sculpture is first carved in wax, then cast in bronze or silver, and carefully finished by hand.

No two pieces are identical. You might notice a small mark, a curve, a texture that makes it truly unique. That’s not a flaw - it’s a fingerprint. It’s what makes wearing Pesci feel personal.

The ocean, the myths, the magic

Elena’s work is deeply inspired by the ocean - its creatures, movements, and mythology. You’ll find starfish, seahorses, pufferfish, and mermaids, alongside her beloved hearts in all shapes and textures. Each design floats between the real and the imagined, grounded in craftsmanship yet full of poetry.

When I visited Elena’s atelier, I knew her work needed to be shared. That’s how Pesci Che Volano became part of our La Casa family.

When I saw it all up close, I realised it wasn’t expensive - it was honest.
